About the Project

Meet Rurópolis, a rural workation house in the north of Burgos created by development facilitator Javi Ruiz with a clear mission: to turn short stays into real, human connection with rural life. Far from a polished rental, it is a shared home where guests arrive accompanied, near Valpuesta, cradle of the earliest written texts in Hispanic Romance. Its day-to-day is shaped by hands-on care for land and people, from a low-impact kitchen garden to shared dinners, guided routes, and community events.

Rurópolis’ everyday life is rooted in the circular, low-impact economy of its own kitchen garden and compost cycle, tended so guests eat vegetables grown steps away and the house keeps its environmental footprint as light as its walls are old.

Within the FoodCoP Startup Village ecosystem, Rurópolis offers a workation and coworking space with dependable wifi, guided trails, and shared meals, helping newcomers, remote workers, and entrepreneurs translate the village, the territory, and their own ideas into a real project.

Rooted in a single house in the villages of northern Burgos, Rurópolis creates local impact by keeping a rural house alive with people, welcoming those who want to reinvent themselves, connect, start a business, or simply change pace—showing that repopulation and meaningful remote work cannot be done alone.
