Technology Against Rural Depopulation
About the Project
Meet the Rural Technological Development Association, a Spanish non-profit established in 2020 to promote the growth of the technology sector in rural areas. Its mission is to attract remote workers, entrepreneurs, and tech companies to rural environments, generating new economic opportunities and helping to combat depopulation through innovative projects, training programmes, and outreach activities.
The association's work contributes to the circular bioeconomy through its "Adopt a Trail" initiative, which restores abandoned paths with volunteers and reuses cleared wood to create handcrafted products whose sale helps fund the project—turning local natural resources into lasting community value.
Within the FoodCoP Startup Village ecosystem, the association plays an important role in connecting citizens, entrepreneurs, and institutions. Having proposed Ansó as a Startup Village, it builds collaborative ecosystems that integrate technology, sustainability, and local development across rural Aragón.
